Google Updates Its Search Results Page

Liza Rodrigues • May 22, 2019

Google continues to update their search engine results pages (SERPs) in order to provide the best experience for their users. This is their goal, and our goal as marketers is to keep up so our client sites can be found.

Over the years, Google has made the life of marketers very challenging by constantly changing the goal posts. However, when we think about it from the perspective of a person doing a search, their updates make sense. As searchers, we want to get the results that we want which are most relevant to our keywords. More than that, we want Google to read our minds and provide us for search results that we need, which may be even more refined than the keywords that we have entered.

This latest update promotes the starts with promoting the brand for the website first in the results listing, showing the logo and URL before the name of the site. This will make it easier for searchers to browse through results to find a familiar brand. This also enables business owners to promote their brand and increase awareness.

As with all Google updates, website owners will soon scramble to make sure they have set their logo properly for their website. However, this logo icon, known as "favicon", was important for SEO (search engine optimization) much before this latest change. Your logo icon already appears in various locations, including the tab of the web browser.

Watch this Google update roll out in the next few days, on mobile first. Make sure your website is set up to show your logo!

Most buyers want pricing before they talk to sales. Online price estimators fill that gap by giving prospects a self-serve cost range, educating them on trade-offs, and capturing project details. The result: higher lead quality, shorter sales cycles, and better conversations for service businesses.
